Cycling Power What?!
Cycling power meters are revolutionising the way serious cyclists, triathletes and their coaches define, analyse and prepare for the demands of racing. From the professional peloton downwards
the technology required to take a more scientific, more effective view of competitive cycling is penetrating all levels of the sport, it has also never been more affordable with serious power
meters starting from prices below that of a premium wheelset.
Cycling Power Models mission is to help forward thinking riders go further than simply
training with power and get the most from their power meters. We want to see more people
thinking in power
because power, more than anything before, represents the invisible "X" factor linking a riders physiological fitness with real performance on the road...and in ways that can be very accurately
modelled to enhance riders training and preparation.
Check out some of the applications of power models here.
On this site you will find:
- Easy to use mathematical models relating cycling power, speed, aerodynamic drag, weight, terrain etc. that empower anybody to analyse cycling in a scientific way.
- Aerodynamic models that can be used to test, evaluate and minimise a riders aerodynamic drag, more affordably and more realistically than in a wind tunnel, as well as assistance
with the question of optimal wheel choice.
- Physiological models that illustrate and explain the way a riders physiology relates to power output, why cyclists are advised to train the way they do, and the inherent
linkages between short and longer duration power outputs.
Analytics Services
Although we offer simple implementations of all models completely free on this site we find that increasing numbers of riders and coaches are keen to benefit from or delegate the execution of more
rigorous event or aerodynamic analysis. We are equally keen to work with coaches to help integrate analytic support into their client services and believe we can add significant value for coach and rider.
You can find more details of our value added services via the services menu.

How can I train efficiently and effectively?
How are my speed and endurance related?
How does the environment affect my performance?
How can I pace myself optimally to best leverage my ability?
How much power does the average (category x) cyclist have?
